Biography
Graduating as valedictorian of his law school class was just the beginning of Mark Callender’s accomplished legal career. Now, his legal practice spans three states, with numerous state court and U.S. Court of Appeals appearances. Mark attributes his legal success to diligent case preparation, collaborative strategy and sharp, relentless advocacy for each client.
Proven Experience and Results in Insurance Law
After law school, Mark gained valuable trial experience as an attorney with Vinson & Elkins, LLP. In 2009, he co-founded a trial practice law firm in Texas. The practice expanded to New Mexico a year later.
Then, in 2022, he joined with Josh Bowlin as co-founder of Callender Bowlin. He grew his practice further to include Colorado.
Today, with more than 20 years of experience, Mark continues his active trial practice in personal injury litigation, medical malpractice, business and commercial litigation, and products liability. He is adept at navigating a range of legal issues for clients, including businesses and corporations, as they respond to personal injury matters, product liability litigation, breach-of-contract claims, and government agency inquiries. His practice also includes representing insured parties in bad-faith insurance claims in both commercial and residential property.
As his success and reputation have grown, Mark has represented clients in the Texas appeals courts and the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit.
Notable Insurance Law Case Results
- Served as lead counsel representing over 40 clients in large truck injury litigation, including from accident investigation through trial.
- Handled a broad range of medical malpractice claims on behalf of hospitals and physicians, including wrongful death, failure to diagnose, and other negligence claims.
- Successfully helped clients navigate a range of business litigation, including breach of contract, allegations of breach of duty, and royalty disputes.
- Guided clients through federal criminal investigations, state civil investigations, and Congressional inquiries and hearings.
- Defended an international manufacturer in Texas state and federal multi-district product liability litigation.
- Represented an international client in complex pharmaceutical product liability, including as part of a trial team defending claims in Texas state and federal courts.
- Navigated business divorce cases, representing both plaintiffs and defendants, including defending against allegations of wrongdoing.
Mark has achieved success for his clients through pretrial settlements, through trials and in appeals. He has also taken cases before the American Arbitration Association, achieving favorable results through settlement.
